Perhaps you're considering coming along and checking us out. That's great, we'd love to see you!
This might help give you an idea about who we are, what we do, and how we try to do it.
Church@TheGabba meets every Sunday morning at 10.00am.
It is a time for people of all ages and from all over the world to gather as a family and a community to worship God, enjoy fellowship, encourage one another and to share in the journey of life and faith together. Our services are inspirational, informative and interactive (and quite informal, so casual dress is the norm).
And everyone is welcome to join us!
Whilst, in past generations, there was not a lot of difference between churches and what they did (and how they did it) when they met together...today is a different story! These days, different people are looking for different things in churches, and these things are often more to do with personal and family needs, worship style, friendliness and location rather than denominational brand or doctrine. Consequently, the "experience" of church can differ dramatically from one church to another.
So, what can you expect from a Sunday service at Church@TheGabba?
Well, firstly, it is a blended church.
The church is made up of people of all ages...from newborns through to those in their nineties. We are blessed to have such a wide range of ages and stages, blended into one happy family. We are also blessed to be a church family made up of people from many different cultures and countries....each adding their own unique contribution to who we are and what we do.
Church@TheGabba is a place where anyone, and everyone, is welcome.
Our style of worship could, also, best be described as blended.
Whilst the majority of the worship songs included in our services these days are more modern, Church@TheGabba still recognizes the value and the strong foundation of the best of the grand old songs of the faith and they will often be included in our Sunday service.
We also value the contribution that gifted contemporary songwriters have made to worship in the modern Christian church and we enjoy expressing our faith and worship through songs by the likes of Chris Tomlin, Rend Collective, Matt Redman, Stuart Townend, Hillsong, et al.
The most important thing to us is that the songs we sing, whether new or old, are biblically based and a worthy offering of praise to our God.
Our services blend together many different aspects.
The order and structure of our services is informal, not liturgical, but there are some things that one can expect to see included in our services each Sunday. Bible reading, prayer, biblical preaching, communion (once a month), songs of praise and worship....these are all standard features of our services. We also include children's stories, video clips, mission spots, baptisms and other features on a regular basis.
We cater for the young children in the church with the special Gabba Kids program which runs every Sunday throughout the school term. This program runs concurrently to the second half of the church service.
